There has been heightened amount of media attention around the Coronavirus (COVID 19) and here at Barker-Hammer Assoc, Inc. we have been getting a high volume of questions on what preventative environmental cleaning and disinfecting procedures to take to prevent the Coronavirus spread. Most of our customers clean high traffic areas such as commercial buildings, offices, schools, medical facilities and event centers and are wondering what precautions to take. Barker-Hammer Assoc, Inc. has taken the time to educate our team by researching CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) website and the manufacturers of the disinfectants and personal protective equipment (PPE) and have provided information below. Considerations and Tips:
- The CDC recommends cleaning surfaces and disinfecting often. Killing germs after cleaning can lower the risk of spreading infections. Use EPA registered disinfectants.
- When using disinfectants dwell time will vary and that is important for their effectiveness refer to the label and follow the manufacturer recommendations.
- Have disposable gloves, disinfectants and personal protective equipment on hand and use them when cleaning and disinfecting to protect yourself.
- Make sure you evenly coat all the surfaces when applying (spraying or fogging) disinfectants.
- Wear your PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when cleaning and disinfecting. Read the labels on the disinfectant products, manufactures recommendations will vary.
- Educate yourself and have the facts for your customers when they have questions.

- Nothing is truly approved by the CDC at this time to kill the COVID-19 strain of the Human Coronavirus because it is a new strain and testing is just starting to take place. Currently the CDC recommends you use an EPA-registered Disinfectant. See the CDC website for more information.

MediClean QGC*
MediClean QGC is a broad-spectrum bactericide that also inhibits the growth of mold and mildew. It is used for disinfecting, deodorizing and as a heavy-duty cleaner. This germicidal cleaner concentrate is EPA registered as virucide, disinfectant, sanitizer, fungicide and mildewstat and I also used for sewage and trauma restoration. Spray on clean surfaces and let dwell for 10 minutes. Concentrate. Dilute 2 oz. per-gallon.
